Registration
Once you have obtained a Letter of Permission from your home institution and a visiting student number from the host institution, you will be able to register for the course through the host institution’s registration system. The actual registration process for the course is determined by your host institution. If, for example, you have received an LOP to take a University of Manitoba course, you would register through their online registration system (known as Aurora). You cannot register for the course through eCourses Manitoba or your home institution, and you cannot register without being accepted as a visiting student. It is a good idea to register as soon as registration opens as some classes fill quickly and others may be subject to cancellation due to low enrollment. Our partners’ registration systems, and general information on those systems, can be found in this section.

Assiniboine Community College
Visiting students are ‘undeclared’ for their program of study. Registration must be mailed or submitted in person. Your registration will not be processed until the Letter of Permission (LOP) from your home institution is received. The deadline for registering for courses is the 20th of the preceding month, so the deadline for a course that starts November 1 would be October 20. As your registration will be held until the LOP is received at ACC, please allow enough time for your home institution to process the LOP prior to the registration deadline.

Admission for visiting student status and registration for a course occur simultaneously. After sending the request for an LOP, you select the course on the RRC website. Both Continuing Education (in class) sessions and Distance Education (online) sessions are listed on the site. Select the Distance Education session when you add the course to your cart and “check out” as you would during web shopping. When you check out, you will be directed to the application form. Students can also register by phone, email or in person. RRC will not process the registration until the Letter of Permission arrives from the home institution.

Unlike other institutions, registration at UW is different for visiting students and regular students. Registration for visiting students is fully manual and is done by calling, emailing, or visiting Student Central. Instructions for registration are included in the acceptance letter for visiting status. Students can also find the same information about registration in WebAdvisor.

Distance students must contact the registrar’s office by phone or by email to register. If you are a U of M student, you can take USB courses without a Letter of Permission. However, you must register for the course through U of M’s registrar rather than through Aurora.
