Since you may be enrolling in a course at an institution other than your home, you may wonder how prerequisites are dealt with by other institutions and how to proceed without the specific prerequisite indicated by the course description.

I have the prerequisite, but I took it at a different institution.
If the host institution doesn’t know that you have taken the required prerequisite course, there might be a block on your account that prevents you from registering. The block can be removed. Please contact the Virtual Help Desk for more information.

I don't have the prerequisite for a course. How can I get permission from the instructor to take the course?
You need to contact the instructor directly to get permission. Whenever possible, we will list the name of the instructor for each course so that you know whom you specifically need to contact. If you have questions about this process, you can contact our Virtual Help Desk for assistance.
