This course is an introduction to Michif language in a culturally safe and supportive learning environment. The emphasis is on task and project-based immersion learning for whole language skills useful in daily and cultural life. A special focus is on the use of verbs in simple tenses in indicative, interrogative and imperative forms reflecting the complexity of Michif's verbal morphosyntax. As a class, students work on listening comprehension, oral expression, and written skills. In the one-hour lab students practice language structured to support the acquisition of that presented in class. Cross-listed: IS-1401(3), IL-1409(3).
