This course will begin with the life of the Buddha, followed by the history and teachings of early and later Buddhism in India, China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and the West. Other topics covered are Buddhist sacred texts, ritual, art, meditation practice, and the primary divisions, or schools, of contemporary South and East Asian Buddhism. The course usually includes at least one visit to a Buddhist temple in Winnipeg.
